Crispy, golden wonton cups filled with juicy shrimp, melted cheese, and fresh herbs — these Delicious Crispy Shrimp Wonton Bowls are the perfect bite-sized treat that brings together bold flavors and fun texture.

At Pierogi & Pancit Media, we love mixing the comfort of Polish hospitality with the vibrant, festive spirit of Filipino cooking. These wonton bowls are a great example of how two cultures can meet at one table and create something truly special.

Ingredients (Makes 12–15 wonton bowls)

For the wonton cups:

  • 12–15 square wonton wrappers
  • Cooking spray or a light brush of oil

For the filling:

  • ½ lb (225 g) raw shrimp, peeled, deveined, and roughly chopped
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Mexican blend cheese
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 small red chili or jalapeño, finely minced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For serving (optional):

  • Extra chopped cilantro
  • Thinly sliced green onion
  • Sweet chili sauce or soy-ginger dipping sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a mini muffin tin with cooking spray.
  2. Form the wonton cups
Gently press one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, allowing the corners to stick up and form a little bowl. Lightly spray or brush the wrappers with oil. Bake for 6–8 minutes until the edges are golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and set aside. Keep the oven on.
  3. Prepare the shrimp filling
In a bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Assemble the bowls
Spoon a small amount of the shrimp mixture into each baked wonton cup. Top generously with shredded cheese, then sprinkle with green onions, cilantro, and chili if using.
  5. Bake until bubbly
Return the filled wonton cups to the oven and bake for another 8–10 minutes, or until the shrimp is cooked through and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
  6. Serve
Carefully remove the wonton bowls from the muffin tin. Garnish with extra cilantro and green onion. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce on the side.

Tips for Success

  • Don’t overfill the cups — a little goes a long way.
  • For extra crispiness, you can also air-fry the empty wonton cups at 350°F for 4–5 minutes before filling.
  • These are best enjoyed fresh, but you can reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer to bring back the crunch.
  • Make them spicier by adding a dash of chili garlic sauce to the shrimp mixture.

These crispy shrimp wonton bowls are perfect for parties, appetizers, or a fun weeknight dinner. They’re easy to make, full of flavor, and look beautiful on the table — exactly the kind of dish we love sharing at Pierogi & Pancit.
